Investigation and analysis of cancer interventional diagnosis and therapy at Henan Province in 2020

Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the current status of interventional diagnosis and treatment of tumors in Henan Province and provide reliable data for the future development of minimally invasive therapy.

Methods

An online electronic questionnaire was used to survey 297 hospitals in cancer interventional treatment professional committee of Henan Province. The survey consisted 14 aspects, such as hospital grading, job title composition, annual surgeries and so on. Stratified analysis was performed based on hospital grading.

Results

The electronic questionnaire effective response rate was 89.2 % (265/297). The survey showed that (1) there were 2,201 tumor interventional practitioners, with an average of 8.3 per hospital mainly from departments of intervention and oncology, accountting for 84.9 %; (2) 218 cases have senior titles, accounting for 9.9 %; (3) The maximum number of people aged 35-50 is 1035 cases, accounting for 47 %; (4) 207 hospitals have flat detector DSA accounting for 78.1%; 165 hospitals have CT guidance accounting for 62.3%; (5) 155 hospitals have interventional wards accounting for 58.5%; (6) 88 hospitals have surgeries more than 500/ per year , accounting for 33.2%; (7) The most common interventional procedures are TACE, puncture biopsy, and catheterization therapy; (8) 209 hospitals choose to get interventional technology in Henan province, accounting for 78.7%; (9) 208 hospitals have telemedicine consultation system, accounting for 78.5%. Compared between third-grading and non-third-grading hospitals, there were statistical differences at department composition, job title composition, age structure, ward setting, annual surgeries and telemedicine consultation system(P<0.05).

Conclusions

The overall development status of tumor intervention in Henan has been good.Mainly business was vascular intervention under DSA guidance, and CT / US-guided intervention has been growing rapidly. The construction of intervention disciplines in non-third-grading hospitals should be enhanced.
