Abstract:

Objective:

To evaluate the clinical application value of a combined fallopian tube blockage treatment of interventional recanalization with post-surgery Chinese medication.

Methods:

10 000 patients with fallopian tube blockages between the interstitial part to ampulla were treated in our hospital from June 1998 to June 2014. They were enrolled in this study and randomly divided into two groups - the treatment group (i.e., by interventional recanalization followed up by Chinese medical treatment) and the control group (i.e., by interventional recanalization only) , with 5 000 cases for each group. Recanalization rate after the fallopian tube interventional treatment was analyzed based on all selected patients. Fertility rate in the following year was then compared between the two groups.

Results:

With 9 700 successful interventional recanalization cases out of the 10 000 cases, the recanalization rate reached to 97%. Fertility rate was 42.5% (2 125/5 000) for the treatment group and 19% (950/5 000) for the control group, the former was much higher than the latter. The difference in the treatment result was statistically significant (χ2=648.352, P<0.01).

Conclusion:

Interventional recanalization is a safe strategy for treating fallopian tube blockage. It has a high recanalization rate and significant clinical efficacy. Application of traditional Chinese medical treatment after recanalization can significantly improve intrauterine pregnancy rate.
