Abstract:

Objective

To evaluate and compare the value of uterine artery embolization (UAE) and UAE with methotrexate (MTX) chemotherapy in the treatment of ectopic pregnancy.

Methods

The clinical data of 34 patients with cervical pregnancy and cesarean scar pregnancy were retrospectively reviewed. The technique, clinical outcomes and complications of UAE and UAE along with the administration of MTX were evaluated.

Results

The fertility of all the patients were successfully preserved, and normal menses resumed within 1.0 to 4.5 months after UAE. The time to resolution of the serum β-hCG was not significantly different between the two groups (P>0.05). The duration of hospitalization was significantly longer in UAE+MTX group than in UAE group.

Conclusions

UAE with curettage is a saft and effective treatment for cervical and cesarean scar pregnancy.
