Abstract:

Objective

To observe the clinical effect of uterine artery embolization (UAE) in the treatment of uterine arteriovenous malformation.

Methods

19 patients with uterine arteriovenous malformation underwent UAE in our hospital from April 2014 to December 2019 were selected to evaluate the therapeutic effect and prognosis.

Results

15 of the 19 patients were successfully treated with one-time UAE. The patients complained of mild pain and discomfort in the right lower abdomen after operation. The symptoms disappeared 2-5 days after operation. There were still bleeding in the remaining 4 cases, of which 2 cases were converted to surgery, and the other 2 cases were improved after conservative treatment. No serious complications occurred in 19 patients.

Conclusions

Although uterine arteriovenous malformation is rare in clinical practice, it is easy to cause serious consequences. UAE is a minimally invasive, efficient and repeatable treatment for uterine arteriovenous malformation, which can be the first choice for those without contraindications
