Abstract:

Objective

A bibliometric analysis was conducted on literature related to transjugular intrahepatic portasystemic shunt (TIPS) to analyze the research status, explore research hotspots.

Methods

A comprehensive search of the Web of Science (WOS) Core Collection, three Chinese databases [National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Digital Periodicals (WANFANG) and Chinese Science and Technology Periodicals (VIP) database] was conducted, from the establishment of the database to December 1, 2022. Core of the search strategy was the key word "transjugular intrahepatic portasystemic shunt" in the medical subject headings' major field. Citespace was used to analyze the retrieved literature.

Results

A total of 2 748 English articles and 1 674 Chinese articles were included and identified, and this analysis showed an upward trend in the publications. The core author teams at home and abroad have been formed, but there was little cooperation among Chinese author teams and institutions. The hotspots of domestic and foreign studies overlapped, and common hotspots included indications and effect evaluation, hepatic encephalopathy, stents, management, and nursing. Hotspots of foreign studies involved more rich topics.

Conclusion

TIPS has undergone rapid development, and Chinese researchers and institutions need to strengthen domestic and international cooperation. The hotspots of domestic and foreign studies overlapped, but domestic studies may lag behind. Further research is needed on the optimal timing of TIPS intervention, appropriate population, hepatic encephalopathy, stents, patient management and nursing.
