Prostatic arterial embolization for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia: a review

Abstract:

Benign prostatic hyperplasia is a common condition in older men and the lower urinary tract symptoms caused by it negatively affect the quality of life. In severe cases, drug treatment and even surgical intervention are required. In recent years, prostatic arterial embolization has made significant progress in the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia, and it is expected to be more widely used in clinical practice. In this article, we will review the development process, applicable population, efficacy assessments, predictive factors, adverse reactions and complications of prostatic arterial embolization, so as to improve the understanding of the treatment.
