To observe the treatment of small coronary arteries with drug eluting balloon in female and its effects on anxiety

Objective

To observe the effectiveness and safety of drug eluting balloon for the treatment of lesions in small coronary arteries in female patients.

Methods

A total of 65 female patients admitted for coronary angioplasty were enrolled, all with lesions in small coronary arteries. All patients were randomly divided into drug eluting balloon group (DEB group, 34 cases) and drug eluting stent group (DES group,31 cases). The treatment effects and HAMA scores in both the groups were observed and followed up for 1 year.

Results

(1) There was no significant difference in the minimum lumen diameter after operation immediately and 1 year in the DEB group and the DES group. Also there were in the LLL, MACE and bleeding rate between the two groups. (2) Compared with preoperatively, there was no significant difference of HAMA scores after operation in the DES group. While it showed a progressive decline in the DEB group (P < 0.05). The HAMA scores in DEB group were significantly lower than those in DES group at 1 year after operation (P < 0.05). (3) The rehospitalization rate and 1-year event-free survival rate in the DEB group were significantly lower than those in the DES group (P < 0.05).

Conclusions

DEB is safe and effective in the treatment of lesions in small coronary arteries in female patients, and it is helpful to relieve anxiety.
