Abstract:

Objective

To detect the interaction of sodium aescinate acted with different chemotherapy agents in normal and ischemic culture environment on HT-29 colon cell line.

Methods

MTT assay in cultured HT-29 cell lines in vitro were used to detect the role of sodium aescinate combined with 10 kinds of chemotherapy agents in different administrating sequences in different culture environment.

Results

Sodium aescinate had synergy effect with a variety of chemotherapy agents; under normal culture state, sodium aescinate and chemotherapy agents were co-incubated or firstly given chemotherapy agents had better synergy effect,to that under ischemic state, most chemotherapy agents had synergy effect with sodium aescinate when co-incubated or firstly given sodium aescinate; but a few chemotherapy agents showed antagonism effect with sodium aescinate.

Conclusions

Sodium aescinate had synergy effect with a variety of chemotherapy agents in HT-29 cells, such synergy effect related to administrating sequences and culture environment, more research were needed to clarify the mechanism.

Key words: Sodium aescinate, Colonic neoplasms, Chemotherapy
