A survey on the overall development of imaging department in Guizhou Province in 2019

Abstract:

Objective

To understand the overall development of imaging department in Guizhou province in 2019.

Methods

Questionnaires were used to investigate the personnel composition, technical development, talent teaching and equipment of imaging departments in 150 hospitals in Guizhou province in 2019.

Results

The questionnaire response rate was 89.3% (134/150). The total number of practitioners in the imaging department was 3 791 [the average number was 28.3 (range 11.25-26), 1 905 males (52.4%) and 1 015 females (47.6%)]. The staff consisted of professional doctors,professional technicians and registered nurses, the percentages were 49.8%, 41.1% and 9.1% respectively. Most of them hada bachelor's degree (63.3%), followed by a junior college (26.8%). The proportion of professional titles was dominated by junior titles (54.9%). The imaging department mainly developed basic technologies, while the development rate of other advanced technologies such as PET/CT was 0.7% (1/134). In 2019, there were 289 113 regular film readings, 11 384 difficult film readings, and 4 288 regular lectures. Of the 134 hospitals, 125 (93.3%) had radiology department management system.

Conclusions

The overall construction, hardware configuration and basic imaging technology of the imaging department in Guizhou province were in good condition, and the quality of professionals, middle and higher equipment and technology still need to be improved.
