Abstract:

Objective:

To evaluate the efficacy of gelatin sponge granules and polyvinyl alcohol granules in the treatment of cicatricial pregnancy in cesarean section after uterine artery embolism.

Methods:

The scar pregnancy clinical data (52 cases) in January 2015—January 2016 in The First Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College were retrospectively analyzed and randomly divided into two groups according to the different embolic particles in interventional therapy, 55 cases of gelatin sponge granule group (group A) and 24 cases of polyvinyl alcohol group (group B) . Interventional management with subsequent curettage was carried out in all patients of both groups. The clinical symptoms improvement, human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) recovery time, changes of color Doppler ultrasound imaging, and amount of blood loss during curettage were compared between the two groups.

Results:

Two groups of patients were successfully involved in interventional therapy, without complications after surgery, and there was no hysterectomy. No complications occurred after the operation. The clinical symptoms in two groups of cicatricial pregnancy patients were effectively improved after interventional therapy, and the improvement rate was 100%. In the two groups, the amount of intraoperative bleeding, incidence of residual pregnancy tissue after operation, time of hospitalization, blood β-HCG recovery time, largest diameter of the gestation sac, thinnest muscularis thickness at the incision, ratio of fetal heart beat and rich ratio of blood flow signals had no significant difference.

Conclusion:

There is no significant difference in the short-term effect of gelatin sponge particles and polyvinyl alcohol particles as embolic agents in the treatment of cicatricial pregnancy.
