Abstract:

Objective

To explore the feasibility of Solitaire self-expanding stent in the treatment of intracranial arterial stenosis.

Methods

Five patients with intracranial arterial atherosclerotic stenosis were reviewed, in whom angioplasty with solitaire stents were performed, and a total of 6 stents were placed. Lesions located in the middle cerebral artery M1 segment in 3 cases, basilar artery segment in 1 case, and internal artery C2 segment in 1 case. The length of lesion was (8+2.9)mm, the stenosis rate was (73+8.5)%.

Results

All patients were received Solitaire stents implanation successfully. Residual stenosis rate was (14+4.2)%. The mean follow-up time of DSA was 10.5 months, no stent restenosis occurred. Twice transient ischemia attack were happened in 1 patient.

Conclusions

The use of Solitaire self-expanding stent could be feasibility for angioplasty for severe intracranial stenosis, but it needs further study.
